Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha of Jammu and Kashmir commenced the 9th India International MSME Expo and Summit 2023 in New Delhi. This prestigious gathering, organized by the MSME Development Forum, served as a platform to foster collaboration between policymakers and entrepreneurs in the Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector, driving forward the nation’s economic growth.
More than 40 exhibitors, supported by JKTPO (Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization), participated in the 9th India International MSME Expo & Summit 2023. These exhibitors showcased a diverse array of innovative products, services, and solutions across various sectors.
Shri Manoj Sinha personally visited booths set up by MSMEs and various stakeholders. This gave him a direct experience of the indigenous products and inventive spirit originating from the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
Micro & Small enterprises play a crucial part in driving socio-economic transformation, especially for women entrepreneurs. In Jammu and Kashmir, over 74,000 SMEs are under the leadership of women, highlighting the empowerment and transformative influence these enterprises bring.
Jammu & Kashmir witnessed the tremendous potential of the MSME sector. Just in the last three years, an impressive 2.81 lakh MSMEs have registered on the Udyam portal.
Notably, there is a rapid expansion of micro and small units in districts including Shopian, Pulwama, Anantnag, Baramulla, Kulgam, and Bandipora. These districts are becoming hubs of new enterprises, turning the aspirations of aspiring entrepreneurs into tangible achievements.
The One District One Product (ODOP) Box of J&K UT was also inaugurated by the Lieutenant Governor, emphasizing the development of all districts in J&K as export centers.
