Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis unveils “My Village, Healthy Village” Initiative on World Health Day

On the occasion of World Health Day, the Maharashtra government started a new rural healthcare campaign called “Majha Gaon, Arogyasampann Gaon” (My Village, Healthy Village). This scheme, worth Rs.65.25 crore, aims to improve health services in villages and make quality treatment available to people near their homes.

Launch by State Leaders

The campaign was officially launched in Mumbai by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Ajit Pawar were also present at the event, along with Health Minister Prakash Abitkar and other leaders. During the program, a short film and an information booklet about the scheme were released to explain its goals.

Aim of the Campaign

The main aim of this initiative is to make rural healthcare stronger and more accessible. The government wants villages to become self-reliant in managing health issues and to reduce the number of diseases. The campaign focuses on providing better medical services directly to people, especially in remote areas.

Focus on Preventive Healthcare

Instead of only treating illness, this campaign gives more importance to preventing diseases. It includes steps to improve cleanliness, provide safe drinking water, manage wastewater and ensure proper nutrition. It will also work on controlling both infectious and lifestyle-related diseases.

Special attention will be given to the health of mothers and children, mental health and diseases caused by unhealthy lifestyles.

Strong System for Implementation

To make the campaign successful, committees have been formed at different levels, from the state to villages. These teams will monitor the progress and ensure that the plans are properly followed. Villages that perform well based on health standards will be awarded the title of “Arogyasampann Gaon.”

A People’s Movement

Officials have said that this is not just a government scheme but a movement that will involve the public. People’s participation is very important to make villages healthier. Minister Meghana Sakore-Bordikar expressed confidence that this campaign will greatly improve health conditions in rural Maharashtra and help build a stronger and healthier society.
