Mahila Aarogyam Kaksh A Step Towards Workplace Wellness for Women
In a pioneering move to promote women’s health and well-being within government workplaces, the Department of Legal Affairs under the Ministry of Law and Justice has inaugurated the Mahila Aarogyam Kaksh at Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi. This first-of-its-kind fitness and wellness space is exclusively designed for women employees, transforming unused office space into a dedicated facility supporting physical and mental health.
The initiative was formally launched on 18th July 2025 by Union Minister of State for Law and Justice, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal. The facility, located within Shastri Bhawan, was carved out from an old garage and developed as a wellness-focused zone, aligning with the Fit India Movement and the vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India).
The facility addresses a vital but often neglected issue — women’s workplace wellness. It reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring that women employees have access to basic health and fitness infrastructure. This move also promotes inclusive work environments and supports the broader national goal of building a fit, empowered, and inclusive workforce.
The Mahila Aarogyam Kaksh is not just a facility, but a cultural shift. It sends a message that women’s health matters, even within high-pressure work environments. It also encourages replication in other departments, laying the foundation for health-centric governance infrastructure.
