The 2025 MotoGP season concluded on a dramatic high note as Marco Bezzecchi clinched a historic victory at the Valencia Grand Prix, becoming the first Aprilia rider to win back-to-back races. This victory, coming just a week after his Portugal triumph, also helped Bezzecchi secure third place overall in the world championship standings, a career-best finish for both rider and team.
Bezzecchi’s command over the Valencia track was evident right from the qualifying session, where he secured pole position. Despite stiff competition, the Italian rider managed to fend off a late push from Spain’s Raul Fernandez, who came in second for the Trackhouse team, and Italy’s Fabio Di Giannantonio, who rounded out the podium on his Ducati.
This marked the 27-year-old’s third win of the season, but the significance of back-to-back victories stood out, particularly because no Aprilia rider had achieved such a feat before.
This season’s results marked a huge leap forward for Aprilia Racing, historically seen as an underdog in MotoGP. Bezzecchi’s string of consistent performances, including a fifth-place finish in the Valencia sprint race, showcased the team’s technical growth and racing maturity.
Securing third place overall not only brought Aprilia its first-ever podium finish in the final standings, but it also sends a strong message heading into 2026: Aprilia is no longer a mid-field team, but a serious title contender.
The season also saw the absence of the reigning world champion Marc Marquez, who clinched his seventh world title earlier in Japan but was forced to end his season prematurely due to a collarbone injury.
Meanwhile, his brother Alex Marquez had a standout year, securing second place in the championship and finishing sixth in Valencia after a sprint race win. The Marquez brothers remain dominant figures, but 2025 also proved the grid is more competitive than ever.
While established names dominated headlines earlier in the season, new stars like Fabio Di Giannantonio and Raul Fernandez stepped up as serious challengers. Their presence on the Valencia podium highlights a changing of the guard in MotoGP, offering fans a fresh and unpredictable racing landscape going into 2026.
