Mark Nicholas, a former England cricketer and well-known commentator, has been chosen as the next president of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC). He will take over from the current president, Stephen Fry, and begin his duties in October of this year. The announcement of his appointment was made during the MCC’s Annual General Meeting.

Mark Nicholas, who became a Member of the MCC in 1981, is a well-known figure in televised cricket coverage worldwide. He has had a successful professional cricket career that spanned over two decades, during which he scored more than 25,000 runs and took 173 wickets. Mark also captained Hampshire to four major trophies, three of which were won in finals held at Lord’s.
After retiring from professional cricket, Mark moved into the media and has been a regular commentator for ICC’s global tournaments. He played as a top-order batter and medium-pace bowler for Hampshire and also captained England A. Notably, Mark scored an unbeaten hundred for MCC at Lord’s against the 1985 Australians.
