MNRE to Host International Conference on Green Hydrogen

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is set to host the International Conference on Green Hydrogen‑2025 on 11 and 12 November 2025 in New Delhi. The event marks a major opportunity to align global and domestic stakeholders around the rapidly evolving green hydrogen sector in India.

Purpose & Focus of the Conference

The conference aims to,

  • Explore practical pathways for scaling up green hydrogen production, addressing technology, cost trends, infrastructure readiness and demand creation.
  • Facilitate global collaboration, bringing in international delegations, industry leaders and policymakers to support India’s transition and export potential.
  • Cover key topics including financing, certification of hydrogen, port‐readiness for hydrogen export, skill development and localisation of technology.

Ministers involved include the Energy Minister, the Petroleum & Natural Gas Minister and the Minister of State for Earth Sciences, signalling cross‐sectoral importance of green hydrogen in India’s clean‑energy policy.

For India’s Energy Transition

  • Green hydrogen is a cornerstone in India’s drive toward clean, affordable and domestically produced energy.
  • As MNRE Secretary Santosh Kumar Sarangi noted, clarity on technology choices, infrastructure requirements and demand creation is essential for the sector’s growth.

Strategic Implications

  • The conference aligns with India’s ambition under the National Green Hydrogen Mission to become a global hub for green hydrogen.
  • Infrastructure readiness—such as ports and export facilities—and certification regimes will shape India’s ability to access international markets.
  • Focus on skill development and localisation of technologies ensures domestic manufacturing and job creation.
