The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Amazon Seller Services in New Delhi to support artisans enrolled under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme. This partnership aims to improve online market access and help artisans reach customers across India. And also to promote traditional crafts through digital platforms.
The PM Vishwakarma Scheme, launched in September 2023, is designed to support artisans working in traditional trades.
Under the agreement, Amazon will help Vishwakarma artisans in several ways,
India has a rich tradition of handmade crafts, but many artisans struggle to reach wider markets. Physical sales alone often limit their income and growth. E-commerce platforms can help these artisans move from local to national markets.
The partnership aligns with efforts to modernise traditional trades and give artisans better earning opportunities. It also supports the government’s vision of strengthening local products and boosting rural entrepreneurship.
