Mumbai Marks Tri-Services Veterans Day with Parade at Marine Drive
Mumbai on 11th January, 2026 witnessed a proud and emotional celebration of India’s military legacy. The city hosted the fifth edition of the Tri-Services Veterans Day parade at Marine Drive, bringing together veterans from the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The event highlighted the nation’s gratitude towards those who have served and safeguarded India’s sovereignty.
Mumbai hosted the fifth Tri-Services Veterans Day parade at Marine Drive. The parade was organized ahead of Veterans Day, which is observed annually on January 14.
The parade was held between 8 AM and 11 AM and saw the participation of over 500 veterans, including gallantry award winners and several octogenarians. The presence of veterans from all three services symbolized unity, discipline, and the enduring spirit of the Indian Armed Forces.
The parade was flagged off by Krishna Swaminathan, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command, who attended as the Chief Guest. Senior officers from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, along with other dignitaries, were also present, lending the event national importance.
Mumbai is the only city in India to host a city-level parade to mark Tri-Services Veterans Day. The event was organized by the Navy Foundation Mumbai Chapter with support from the Headquarters Western Naval Command. This unique tradition reflects the city’s strong naval heritage and close association with the armed forces.
Tri-Services Veterans Day commemorates the retirement of K. M. Cariappa, the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army after Independence, on January 14, 1953. The day honours the service, sacrifice, and contributions of India’s military veterans across all three services.
