Murali Sreeshankar Wins Men’s Long Jump at Indian Athletics Series 2026

Indian long jumper Murali Sreeshankar has delivered the strong performance and won in men’s long jump event at the Indian Athletics Series 2026. He was competing for the first time this season and he recorded the jump of 8.15 metres. This is the his bet performance after returning from knee surgery in 2024. The event took place at the Kanteerava Stadium and where the Sreeshankar stand out as the only athlete to cross the 8-metre mark.

A Comeback Story After Injury Setback

His victory holds the special significance as it marks a successful comeback after the challenging injury in his career.

  • He underwent knee surgery in 2024 and it forced him to miss the Paris Olympics 2024
  • And returned to competition but also struggled at the World Athletics Championships 2025
  • His previous best performance was in last season was 8.13m and slightly lower than his current performance

This 8.15m jump reflects his improving form and determination.

The event has saw competitive performances but Sreeshankar have dominated the field.

  • Winner: Murali Sreeshankar – 8.15m
  • Second Place: Sunny Kumar – 7.90m
  • Third Place: Purushotham – 7.87m

His winning jump came in the fourth attempt and which showcasing the consistency and control.

Women’s Long Jump: Close Contest

Also the women’s event has witnessed the tight competition.

  • Winner: Ancy Sojan – 6.54m
  • Runner-up: Shaili Singh – 6.52m
  • Third Place: Moumita Mondal – 6.37m
