New Delhi Hosts 68th APO Governing Body Meeting with Asia-Pacific Delegates

India hosts the 68th Session of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) Governing Body from the 20th to 22nd May, 2026. This high level international gathering will take place at the Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi and it will bring together the  policymakers, productivity experts and delegates from across the Asia-Pacific region.

India Hosts Major Asia-Pacific Productivity Summit in New Delhi

India is officially hosting the 68th APO Governing Body Meeting as the current Chair of this organization.

This three-day summit is being held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi and will witness the participation from more than 60 senior delegates representing 20 APO member economies.

The event is one of the most important annual meetings in the regional productivity and the policy calendar.

Respectable Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is also scheduled to attend the inaugural session on 21 May 2026.

Senior APO directors, policy advisors, diplomatic representatives and invited observers are also participating in this summit.

Also the observers from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Bhutan and the Global Green Growth Institute are expected to join discussions.

What Is the Main Focus of the APO 2026 Meeting?

The summit is not just ceremonial. It serves as the highest-level governance meeting of the APO where the critical organizational and strategic decisions are taken.

Key agenda items includes the,

APO Vision 2030 Review

The member countries will assess progress under the APO Vision 2030 framework which will focuses on boosting productivity-led economic transformation.

Budget Planning for 2027–28

Delegates will deliberate on the APO’s preliminary budget for the upcoming biennium. Also the financial planning remains central to implementing regional productivity program.

Secretary-General Election Procedures

Focus on institutional governance reforms, which includes the review of election procedures for the Secretary-General, are also on the agenda.

Leadership Elections

The meeting will elect the next APO Chair and Vice Chairs for 2026-27.

APO National Awards to Honor Productivity Champions

The major highlight of the summit is the APO National Awards Program.

Awards will be presented in the two categories,

  • APO National Award for Productivity Advocates
  • APO National Award for Productivity Technical Experts

These recognitions are aims to encourage institutions and professionals promoting the productivity-led improvements in member economies.

This awards also strengthen the role of National Productivity Organizations (NPOs) to driving innovation and operational efficiency.
