The Indian Consulate in Dubai has introduced a new insurance package called the Life Protection Plan (LPP) for Indian blue-collar workers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This plan aims to provide financial benefits to the families of the workers in case of natural or accidental deaths.
The Consulate General of India in Dubai facilitated meetings between major companies recruiting Indian blue-collar workers and two insurance service providers – Gargash Insurance Services LLC and Orient Insurance PJSC. Together, they arrived at this insurance package to cover natural and accidental deaths of the workers in the UAE.
The Life Protection Plan (LPP) for blue-collar workers and other employees, covering death due to any cause – natural or accidental, became effective from March 1, 2023.
The terms and conditions on how the LPP will be implemented were worked out between the companies recruiting Indian blue-collar workers and the insurance service providers.
Commenting on the launch of the LPP, Consul General Satish Sivan stated, “Welfare of the Indian community remains our utmost priority.”
Approximately 3.5 million Indians live in the UAE, with around 65 percent being blue-collar workers, comprising one of the largest migrant worker groups in the country.
