NHAI Launches Rajasthan’s First Barrier-Free Tolling System on NH-48
National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has successfully introduced the first Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling system in the state of Rajasthan. This barrier less toll collection system at Daulatpura Toll Plaza launched on the busy Delhi-Jaipur section of NH-48.
Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) is the advanced electronic toll collection system that allows vehicles to cross the toll points without stopping or slowing down significantly.
Comparing to conventional toll plazas that require the barriers and manual verification, MLFF uses the automated technologies to identify vehicles and collect toll charges digitally.
The system integrates the,
This ensures the seamless toll collection while minimizing the human intervention.
This newly launched MLFF system has been deployed at the Daulatpura Toll Plaza on the Delhi-Jaipur section of National Highway 48.
This project marks a major milestone in the Rajasthan’s transportation infrastructure modernization.
After the successful implementation at Daulatpura, NHAI is also planning to convert,
into MLFF-based tolling facilities.
Once it gets completed, commuters traveling on the heavily used Delhi-Jaipur corridor will experience the largely barrier-free movement throughout the route.
The MLFF system relies on to the advanced technologies to automate the toll collection process.
High-resolution cameras, that are installed at toll locations to capture vehicle registration numbers as vehicles pass through.
The system automatically identifies and it records the vehicle details without requiring any physical interaction.
The captured vehicle information is also linked with the FASTag account associated with the vehicle.
The toll amount is then be deducted electronically from the FASTag wallet.
Since the system operates digitally vehicles do not need to stop at the toll booths which significantly reducing the delays and congestion.
One of the most important benefits is the elimination of the waiting time at toll plazas.
Vehicles can continue moving without any stopping and will lead to faster journeys.
With the frequent stopping and acceleration at the toll booths increases the fuel consumption.
With the uninterrupted movement vehicles will consume less fuel which resulting in cost savings for commuters.
Lower Vehicle Emissions
Reduced the idling time directly contributes to the lower carbon emissions and improved environmental sustainability.
Enhanced Driving Experience
Barrier-free travel also improves the convenience and reduces stress and specially on the high-traffic corridors.
The Daulatpura project is not the India’s first MLFF implementation.
