NIT-C Launches ‘Nivahika’ Web Portal For Data Management

National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) has taken a significant leap in data management with the launch of its cutting-edge web portal, ‘Nivahika.’ Inaugurated by Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director of NITC, in a ceremony at the Senate Hall, the portal is set to transform how the Institute handles and reports data.

What is Nivahika?

“The ministry often requests detailed reports and updates on our activities. With Nivahika, we now have a reliable tool that ensures accuracy and consistency, aiding in everything from ministry submissions to national rankings,” said Prof. Krishna. He emphasized that Nivahika is not just a milestone for NITC but could also set a benchmark for other National Institutes of Technology (NITs) across the country once fully operational. Nivahika becomes fully functional, it is poised to become a model for data management across the educational sector.

Development by the Dean

The development of Nivahika was overseen by the Dean (Planning & Development) office, with critical support from the Centre for Information Technology, Research and Automation (CITRA), the Computer Networking Centre (CNC), and the Central Computer Centre (CCC). The portal is designed for the systematic and timely recording of key activities from various departments and multidisciplinary centers, ensuring that crucial data is accessible at all times.

Provide secure access

Nivahika will not only streamline the availability of institutional data but will also provide secure access to authorized personnel,” said Prof. Priya Chandran, Dean (Planning and Development). She further noted that the portal’s automated report generation capability marks a significant advancement in how the institute handles data.

Access to the Director, Registrar and others

Hosted within the NITC campus, Nivahika offers access to the Director, Registrar, Deans, Heads of Departments (HoDs), and Centre Chairpersons through personalized user accounts. This innovative portal stands as a testament to NIT Calicut’s commitment to embracing technology for improved governance and operational efficiency.
