The station is situated in Dharmanagar. It is owned by Indian railways and managed by the Northeast Frontier Railways under the Lumding division.

Dharmanagar Railway Station is part of the Lumding-Sabroom section, which helps connect Tripura with Assam and other northeastern states. It comes under the Northeast Frontier Railway Zone.

The station has 2 platforms and 4 tracks. It has an auto stand nearby for easy local travel. However, the platforms are not well-sheltered and the station lacks basic facilities like clean drinking water and proper sanitation.
