Operation Alert Launched Along Rajasthan Border Ahead of Independence Day

The Border Security Force (BSF) has initiated a high-intensity security drive, ‘Operation Alert’, along the Rajasthan border in the run-up to Independence Day 2025. This special operation aims to strengthen border security, rehearse Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and counter potential threats.

Timeline and Objectives

  • Commencement: 11 August 2025
  • Conclusion: Midnight of 17 August 2025
  • Primary Goal: Implement strict border management, conduct security drills, and review existing SOPs to ensure readiness against any possible infiltration or security challenge.

BSF DIG (Sector South) MK Negi stated that the force is continuously evaluating intelligence inputs, monitoring threats, and working on counter-planning to neutralise them.

Key Security Measures

  • Intensified Border Patrols: Enhanced foot and vehicle patrolling along sensitive stretches of the India–Pakistan border.
  • SOP Review and Improvement: Detailed review of current instructions, operational drills, and emergency protocols.
  • Technology-Driven Surveillance: Utilisation of advanced gadgets and sensors for real-time monitoring and intelligence gathering.
  • Full Force Deployment on 15 August: All BSF personnel will be stationed at the border on Independence Day for heightened vigilance.

Link to Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign

The launch of Operation Alert coincides with the ongoing Har Ghar Tiranga campaign (2–15 August 2025), which encourages citizens to hoist the Tricolour at their homes.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the “phenomenal participation” in the campaign, stating it reflects India’s deep patriotic spirit and unity. Citizens are encouraged to share photos and selfies on harghartiranga.com.

Public Response

The Ministry of Culture has reported overwhelming enthusiasm across the nation — from Kashmir to Lakshadweep, and Gujarat to Sikkim — showcasing a strong emotional bond between the people and the National Flag.
