With Norris’ retirement, Piastri’s lead over his teammate grew to 34 points. This outcome may prove decisive in the title fight, especially as McLaren had been dominating recent races.
The result also shakes up the Constructors’ Championship. Mercedes is now just 12 points behind Ferrari in the battle for second place, as Ferrari failed to score any points.
