Partition Horrors Remembrance Day 2026 observed, which is also called Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas, is to be marked on August 14 in honour of those who endured unbearable pain and misery on account of Partition of India in 1947. The day commemorates those people who died or whose homes and sources of earning livelihood were lost and those who had to flee from their homes under the threat of communal riots and violence. The Government of India declared August 14 as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day in 2021.
