Pawan Sehrawat Replaces Tajinderpal Toor as India’s Flag-Bearer

Kabaddi player from India Pawan Sehrawat will now take up the position of men’s flag bearer at the opening ceremony of the Asian Games in place of the shot put athlete Tajinderpal Singh Toor. According to the Indian Olympic Association, the replacement of the shot putter was due to technical reasons. Sehrawat is a gold medallist at the 2022 Asian Games as well as an important Pro Kabaddi League player. Manu Bhaker will still continue to be the women’s flag bearer in the games along with Sehrawat.

Pawan Sehrawat as the Male Flag-Bearer

Pawan Sehrawat will now be the flag bearer for India.

Sehrawat is one of the players of India that helped his team win the gold medal in kabaddi at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou. He is also an important player in the Pro Kabaddi League.

The replacement of the shot putter was due to technical reasons.

Bhaker to Represent Women Once Again at Hangzhou 2023

Indian shooter Manu Bhaker will represent the women at Hangzhou 2023 again.

Bhaker bagged two bronze medals in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and became the first independent Indian athlete to bag two medals in a single edition of the Olympic Games.

The Asian Games will witness Bhaker compete in the women’s 10m air pistol, women’s 25m pistol, and 10m air pistol mixed team categories.

Sehrawat Eyes Asian Games Gold Once More

Indian kabaddi player Sehrawat will also represent the team at Hangzhou 2023.

The team aims to once again bring the gold medal home after being crowned champions of men’s kabaddi eight times out of nine Asian Games editions since making their debut in 1990. India managed to grab the bronze medal in 2018 before clinching the gold at Hangzhou 2022 by defeating Iran 33-29.

Toor Seeks Third Straight Gold

Though Toor will no longer be representing India by carrying their national flag in the ceremony, he is still one of India’s athletes.

The shot putter seeks his third straight Asian Games gold medal. He won the championship in the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games and defended his title in Hangzhou 2022 with a 20.36-meter throw.
