The methodology of the PLFS has been revised from January 2025 to provide labour market statistics at a more frequent interval.

Urban worker population ratio stayed broadly unchanged at 46.8%, from 46.9% recorded in the last quarter.

Overall, the worker population ratio decreased by 0.3% compared to April-June 2025.

However, the female unemployment rate within the urban areas decreased from 9.1% to 8.7% during the period under review.

In comparison to the same period in the previous year, the proportion of regular wage/salaried employment also increased in rural areas from 15.4% in April-June 2025 to 16.1% in April-June 2026.
It reflects an increase in the proportion of workers employed in comparatively structured employment forms.
