PM Modi to Lead First-Ever CAPF Conference to Strengthen Internal Security

To strengthen the national security of the country PM Narendra Modi will chair the first edition of the high-level conference of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). This initiative aims to bring together the top leadership to enhance the coordination and develop a unified approach to tackle evolving nature of the internal security challenges which includes the insurgency, extremism and cyber threats.

Why This CAPF Conference Is Important

The upcoming conference marks the major shift in India’s internal security framework. For the first time ever the senior leadership across CAPFs will comes together under the one platform to discuss the strategic coordination and policy alignment.

This indicates the government’s focus on to creating a more integrated and responsive security system.

With the threats becoming more complex and technology-driven the isolated efforts are no longer sufficient. The conference aims to ensure  the better communication, faster decision-making and the joint operational planning.

Focus Areas: From Extremism to Cyber Threats

The discussions are expected to cover the wide range of security concerns, includes the,

  • Insurgency and Left-Wing Extremism
  • Cyber enabled threats and the digital crimes
  • Border and internal security challenges
  • Emerging hybrid threats

These issues highlights the need for the modern, technology-driven security approach where the forces can act together efficiently.

Stronger Coordination with Intelligence

A main objective of the conference is to improve the synergy between CAPFs, intelligence agencies and the state police forces.

It also enhanced the intelligence sharing, coordination mechanisms and the joint operations are expected to be major agenda points.

The Intelligence Bureau has already start to taking the inputs from stakeholders to ensure the discussions which can lead to practical and outcome-oriented solutions.

What Are CAPFs

Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) includes the major forces like CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP and SSB.

They play the critical role in internal security, border management and the counter-terrorism operations in India.

It functions under the Ministry of the Home Affairs.
