PM Modi Unveils 77 FT Statue Of Rama & Inaugurates Ramayana Theme Park in Goa
On November 28, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a massive 77-foot-tall bronze statue of Lord Rama and formally opened the Ramayana Theme Park at the Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math in Canacona, South Goa. The event marked the beginning of the 550th-year celebrations of the Math, also known as Sardha Panchashatamanotsava, a significant milestone for one of the oldest spiritual institutions in India.
This twin celebration — steeped in cultural, religious, and spiritual significance — reinforced India’s civilisational identity and showcased the blend of heritage and modern expression.
In Goa, Prime Minister Modi led the inauguration of the newly developed Ramayana Theme Park, an interactive cultural space inspired by the epic Ramayana. He also unveiled a 77-foot bronze statue of Lord Rama, turning the Math into a new focal point for religious tourism and national heritage.
As part of the celebrations, PM Modi also released a special postal stamp and a commemorative coin to honor the 550-year journey of the Math, which has played a key role in preserving the Dwaita Vedanta tradition and nurturing spiritual education among the Gowd Saraswat Brahmin community.
Earlier that day, the Prime Minister visited Udupi, Karnataka, where he participated in the Laksha Kantha Gita Parayana at the iconic Sri Krishna Matha. Over one lakh participants, including students, monks, and devotees, joined in the collective recitation of the Bhagavad Gita, symbolizing unity and spiritual dedication.
During his visit, he also inaugurated the Suvarna Teertha Mantapa and dedicated the Kanaka Kavacha (gold-plated window covering) for the Kanakana Kindi, a revered window linked to saint Kanakadasa, known for his divine vision of Lord Krishna.
The inauguration of the Ramayana Theme Park and the Lord Rama statue underscores India’s enduring reverence for its epics and mythological heritage. It brings stories from the Ramayana alive for future generations in an accessible, immersive way.
The 550th-year celebration of the Partagali Math highlights its pivotal role in nurturing spiritual discourse, Vedic traditions, and community development for over five centuries.
Through these celebrations, PM Modi emphasized the importance of honoring India’s past while integrating cultural heritage with modern commemorations like thematic parks, digital media, and symbolic currency and postage.
The massive Gita recitation in Udupi served as a symbol of spiritual collectiveness — a reminder of how faith, values, and scriptures unite people across generations and regions.
