PM Modi Welcomes Newborn Calf ‘Deepjyoti’ at His Residence

In a heartwarming gesture, Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced a newborn calf, ‘Deepjyoti’, born at his official residence at Lok Kalyan Marg, New Delhi. Sharing a video on X, PM Modi revealed that the calf, with a unique light-like mark on its forehead, inspired the name ‘Deepjyoti’, which translates to ‘light of the lamp’.

PM Modi’s Affection for Cows

In the video, PM Modi is seen petting and playing with the calf, showing deep affection by softly kissing its forehead. He later took a stroll with the calf in the garden of his residence. This marks another instance of the Prime Minister’s affection for cows, as he was previously seen feeding Punganur cows during Makar Sankranti.

Significance of the Name ‘Deepjyoti’

The Prime Minister highlighted that in Indian scriptures, cows are considered auspicious and a source of all happiness. The calf’s forehead symbol, resembling light, inspired its meaningful name, ‘Deepjyoti’.

PM Modi’s Bond with Cows at Lok Kalyan Marg

This isn’t the first instance of PM Modi’s interaction with cows at his residence. Earlier this year, he shared a video during Makar Sankranti where he fed Punganur cows, a breed native to South India’s Rayalaseema region. The breed is notable for being one of the smallest humped cattle in the world.
