President Droupadi Murmu Inaugurates Plumeria Garden, Banyan Grove, and Babbling Brook at Rashtrapati Bhavan

In a step that adds new dimensions to the iconic gardens of Rashtrapati Bhavan, President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated Plumeria Garden, Banyan Grove, and Babbling Brook—three newly developed sections of the Udyan complex. These additions not only enrich the visual and ecological appeal of the President’s Estate but also introduce elements promoting wellness, sustainability, and public engagement.

The New Additions to Amrit Udyan

Plumeria Garden

The Plumeria Garden introduces a refreshing landscape composed of rolling grass mounds and curated plantations. Known for its serene atmosphere and vibrant flora, this section is designed to foster peace and reflection, aligning with the aesthetic principles of traditional Indian gardens.

Banyan Grove

The Banyan Grove offers a unique blend of nature therapy and wellness. It features,

  • Reflexology paths designed for barefoot walking to stimulate pressure points
  • Panchtatva trails, representing the five elements of nature
  • Forest-inspired soundscapes that create a meditative atmosphere
  • This section is aimed at enhancing both physical and mental well-being through interaction with natural elements.

Babbling Brook

The Babbling Brook introduces a dynamic water feature into the Udyan landscape. It includes,

  • Naturalistic cascades
  • Sculptural water spouts
  • Stepping stones for immersive experience
  • This brook brings a sense of movement, sound, and tranquility to the garden, enriching the sensory appeal of the space.

Public Access to Amrit Udyan

These new sections are now open to the public as part of the Amrit Udyan, which will remain accessible until 14 September 2025. Visitors can explore these newly inaugurated gardens, blending traditional aesthetics with modern ecological and therapeutic concepts.

Significance

The inauguration of these gardens carries broader significance,

  • Cultural and ecological enrichment of Rashtrapati Bhavan
  • Promotion of public health and mindfulness through reflexology and nature trails
  • Highlights President Droupadi Murmu’s emphasis on sustainability and inclusive access to heritage spaces
  • Such developments are also part of a broader effort to make the President’s Estate more people-centric and eco-conscious.
