President Murmu Confers 65 Padma Awards; Rohit Sharma, Mammootty, R Madhavan Among Recipients
In the Padma Awards 2026 ceremony Honourable President Droupadi Murmu honored the 65 distinguished personalities from diverse fields, including sports, cinema, music, literature, public affairs, and social service. This award recognize the exceptional contributions to the nation and it remain among the India’s highest civilian honours. In the second phase of the awards President honored several figures like Rohit Sharma, R. Madhavan, Mammootty, Alka Yagnik, and Vijay Amritraj.
President Murmu has conferred the 65 Padma Awards during the formal investiture ceremony which was held at the presidential residence.

This ceremony celebrated those individuals whose achievements have significantly impacted the Indian society, culture, sports, science, public service, and other fields.
Earlier this year, the Government of India announced the total of 131 Padma Awards, comprising five Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan and 113 Padma Shri honours.
There are everal prominent personalities from the fields like sports, cinema, and music received the Padma honours during the ceremony.
Former Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma was among the most notable recipients. He is known for his leadership and the record-breaking performances in international cricket and Rohit has played a crucial role to win the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 and ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Actor R. Madhavan was honoured for his outstanding contribution to the Indian cinema. Over the years, he has earned the name through his performances in Hindi and regional films while also contributing to filmmaking and cultural representation.
Veteran Malayalam cinema star Mammootty also received the recognition for his decades-long contribution towards the Indian and regional cinema.
Alka Yagnik the playback singer was honoured for her contribution to the Indian music. Her voice has defined the many generations of the Bollywood songs and she also earned widespread admiration.
Former tennis star Vijay Amritraj was also recognized for his contributions towards the Indian sports and international representation.
The Padma Awards are the India’s most prestigious civilian honors.
