Professor Suman Chakraborty, a renowned mechanical engineer and innovator in affordable diagnostic technologies, has been appointed as the Director of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur. His five-year term began following the interim tenure of Professor Amit Patra, Director of IIT-BHU. Professor Chakraborty is celebrated for developing low-cost clinical solutions for diseases such as anaemia, cancer, and COVID-19 and is currently a J.C. Bose National Fellow.
