Purple Cap Holder in WPL 2024

The Purple Cap is awarded to the bowler who takes the most wickets in a Women’s Premier League (WPL) season. The second edition of the WPL is set to commence on February 23, with the final scheduled for March 17. The matches will be held at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

Heading into the second season, Mumbai Indians’ Hayley Matthews from the West Indies holds the Purple Cap, having claimed 16 wickets in 10 matches during the previous season. UP Warriorz’s Sophie Ecclestone from England finished second, tied with Matthews on 16 wickets but with a superior strike rate. Amelia Kerr, an all-rounder from New Zealand and Matthews’ Mumbai Indians teammate, secured the third position with 15 wickets.

The highly anticipated second season of the WPL will run from February 23 to March 17, with matches being hosted at the iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

Australian all-rounder Jess Jonassen of DC has taken the lead, while her teammates Radha Yadav and Marizanne Kapp are hot on her heels. Sophie Ecclestone of UP Warriorz (UPW) and Asha Shobana of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are also in the mix for the prestigious cap.
