Rajnath Singh Unveils Indian War Memorial in South Korea, Honouring Korean War Heroes

India and South Korea have strengthened the strategic relationship as Defense Minister of India Rajnath Singh inaugurated the Indian War Memorial in South Korea. This memorial honors the Indian soldiers who served during the Korean War (1950-53) and specially those who carried out the humanitarian and peacekeeping duties.

The memorial was jointly inaugurated at the Imjingak Peace Park, South Korea, alongside with the South Korea’s Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Kwon Oh-eul.

The ceremony has honored Indian military personnel who played critical roles during the Korean War.

Rajnath Singh also laid a wreath, observed a two-minute silence and paid tribute to those Indian soldiers whose service remains an important chapter in military history.

This occasion has been described as a symbolic and strategic milestone in India-South Korea relations.

The legendary 60 Parachute Field Ambulance, which is often called the Maroon Angels and provided extraordinary medical support during the conflict.

The unit reportedly treated more than 222,000 patients and demonstrating one of the most notable humanitarian military efforts of the war.

Custodian Force of India

The Custodian Force of India played the major role in handling prisoner of war repatriation.

This was a crucial peacekeeping responsibility in the post conflict settlement process.

India and South Korea Sign New Cooperation Agreement

India and South Korea also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand cooperation in the veterans affairs.
