The selection of Rohit Jawa, a senior executive of the UK-based parent company Unilever, as Hindustan Unilever Ltd.’s (HUL) new managing director and CEO has been approved by the company’s board. The FMCG behemoth informed the stock exchanges that the appointment, which is for a five-year term, will start on June 27, 2023. Sanjiv Mehta, the current MD and CEO of Hindustan Unilever since 2013, will be replaced by Jawa.

Jawa will be appointed as a full-time director of the firm from April 1 to June 26 prior to taking over as the MD & CEO, according to the regulatory filing. Ranjay Gulati has been chosen by the company’s board of directors to serve as an independent director for a period of five years starting on April 1, 2023.
The 56-year-old Jawa began working for the Unilever group more than three decades ago. He has an MBA in Marketing from Delhi’s School of Management Studies. He was appointed Unilever’s chief of transformation in January 2022, and he is now stationed in London.
In 1988, Jawa began his career with HUL as a management trainee. He then held important managerial positions with Unilever in South East Asia and North Asia, among other places.
