Samrat Choudhary to take oath as Bihar CM after Nitish Kumar’s resignation
Nitish Kumar Chief Minister of Bihar have resigned from the post on the 14th April , 2026. This resignation marks the important political turnout in the state history. After serving as the Chief Minister for over the two decades his departure signal the end of the era in Bihar politics. With this new transition to be formed in Bihar as the Current Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary will take oath as the New Bihar Chief Minister.
Nitish Kumar have played the important role to shape the Bihar’s governance since the year 2005. He was Known for his focus on to the infrastructure, law and order, societal development and inclusive development. He have maintained the political relevance through various strategic alliances. His resignation comes in the final cabinet meeting where he had dissolved the Council of Ministers. In his farewell speech he had highlighted the achievements across the different sectors like education, health and rural development and he also emphasized the commitment to serve the people of the Bihar.
Current Deputy CM of the State Samrat Choudhary will be the new CM of the State. As of now the BJP have elected the leader of the legislature house and it marks the historic shift as the State of Bihar will get first CM of the BJP. With the support of MLAs the coalition will claim to form the new government in the upcoming days.
Nitish Kumar tenure is has been associated with the improvements in infrastructure and governance. Also the focus on law and order reforms along with the social welfare schemes.
He has credited the people of Bihar for their continued trust. His rule has changed the face of the state via various initiatives.
As he became the member of the Council of States (Rajya Sabha) he has achieved the new landmark.

However he has never been a member of the Rajya Sabha before but with this he will become small group of leaders who have served the all four bodies. He will stand with the personality like Lalu Prasad Yadav and the late Sushil Kumar Modi.
