Sanjay Kaul (IAS) Appointed as MD & Group CEO of GIFT City

Senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Sanjay Kaul has officially assumed charge as the Managing Director and Group CEO of Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), India’s premier International Financial Services Centre (IFSC). His appointment marks a significant leadership transition for GIFT City, a flagship project in India’s financial infrastructure strategy. With over two decades of experience across various sectors including public policy, infrastructure, technology, and finance, Kaul’s leadership is expected to accelerate GIFT City’s vision of becoming a global financial hub.

Background of GIFT City

Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), located in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, is India’s first operational smart city and the country’s maiden International Financial Services Centre (IFSC). It was conceptualized as a global financial and IT services hub to attract international business in banking, insurance, asset management, and capital markets. Since its inception, GIFT City has made significant progress, with increasing investments, infrastructure upgrades, and the setting up of entities like the IFSC Authority (IFSCA).

About Sanjay Kaul

Sanjay Kaul is a 2001-batch IAS officer known for his diversified experience in public service. He has held important roles such as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Culture, and leadership positions in Gujarat Informatics Ltd and Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd. A native of Gujarat, he holds an engineering degree in Electronics and Communication from NIT Surat and a degree in Public Policy from Syracuse University, New York. His multidimensional background positions him well to steer GIFT City’s international and technological aspirations.

Kaul’s appointment comes at a pivotal moment as GIFT City aims to solidify its status as a leading global financial centre.
