Senior IPS Officers Appointed to Key Positions in Central Armed Police Forces
The Central Government has announced significant appointments in two of India’s premier central armed police forces. These appointments come as part of the regular rotation and promotion of senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers to key positions in national security organizations.
Daljit Singh Chaudhary, a distinguished IPS officer of the 1990 batch from the Uttar Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as the new Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF). This appointment marks a significant milestone in Chaudhary’s career, which has been marked by several high-profile positions in various security organizations.
As the chief of the BSF, Chaudhary will be responsible for overseeing the security of India’s borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh. The BSF plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of these sensitive international boundaries, combating cross-border terrorism, and preventing illegal activities such as smuggling and human trafficking.
Simultaneously, the government has appointed Rajwinder Singh Bhatti as the Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Bhatti, also from the 1990 batch of the IPS, belongs to the Bihar cadre and brings a wealth of experience to his new role.
In his capacity as the CISF Director General, Bhatti will be tasked with ensuring the security of critical infrastructure across the country. The CISF is responsible for providing security to various government buildings, industrial units, airports, and other vital installations.
These appointments reflect the government’s focus on placing experienced officers in key positions within the central armed police forces. Both Chaudhary and Bhatti bring extensive experience in various aspects of policing and security, which will be crucial in addressing the complex challenges faced by their respective organizations.
The appointment of Chaudhary to the BSF represents a transition from his previous role at the SSB, where he was responsible for guarding India’s borders with Nepal and Bhutan. This shift demonstrates the government’s strategy of leveraging cross-organizational experience to enhance the effectiveness of border management.
Bhatti’s appointment to the CISF, coming from his role in the Bihar Police and previous experience in the BSF and CBI, indicates a focus on bringing diverse policing experiences to the industrial security sector.
