Shalini Singh made history as she completed the mountaineering course in the Himalayan area of Uttarakhand as the country’s first female NCC cadet. Shalini Singh, a 20-year-old NCC cadet from Lucknow, has become the first female cadet in India to complete the advanced mountaineering course. She scaled a 15,400-foot peak in the Dring Valley in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand as part of the course.

By providing the required resources and specialised training, Colonel Puneet Srivastava, commander of the 67 UP Battalion NCC Lucknow, enhanced her efforts. The squad underwent the training course at Tekla, Uttarkashi, from April 26 to May 6. According to Shalini, the month-long training must be finished under difficult circumstances in less than subzero (-14 degrees Celsius) temperatures. She continues by saying she hopes other girls would be inspired by her work to follow similar endeavours in the future.
Singh, who is a student of Bappa Shri Narayan Vocational PG College, Lucknow, began the month-long course on April 26. She was the only female cadet in a team of 45 NCC cadets. The course included training in rock climbing, rappelling, snow and ice climbing, and camping. The cadets also had to undergo physical fitness tests and undergo a medical examination. The Senior Wing NCC cadet, Shalini Singh, was enrolled in the 67 UP Battalion.
