Shashi Prakash Goyal Takes Charge as New Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh
Senior IAS officer Shashi Prakash Goyal, a 1989-batch officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), has officially assumed charge as the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, succeeding Manoj Kumar Singh, who retired on the same day. The appointment reflects the state government’s focus on administrative continuity and rapid development.
Before this appointment, Goyal served as the Additional Chief Secretary to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and handled key portfolios such as Civil Aviation, Estate, and Protocol. He also worked as the Additional Resident Commissioner of Uttar Pradesh, gaining extensive experience in both governance and policy implementation.
His predecessor, Manoj Kumar Singh, a 1988-batch IAS officer, had been serving as Chief Secretary since June 30, 2024, and was credited with overseeing several major state initiatives and events.
