Sonam Maskar Wins Silver In Women’s Air Rifle In Cairo, Egypt

Sonam Maskar made a remarkable debut in the shooting World Cup in Cairo, Egypt, clinching the women’s air rifle silver medal. Despite her impressive performance, she was narrowly beaten by Anna Janssen of Germany by a mere 0.9 points. Maskar’s stellar performance highlights her potential as a rising star in the sport.

Nancy Mandhotra’s Near Miss

Joining Maskar in the final was Nancy Mandhotra, who displayed excellent form during the qualification round with a score of 633.1. However, Mandhotra missed out on securing a medal by a slim margin of 0.2 points, showcasing the intense competition at the World Cup.

Mixed Results in Women’s 25-metre Sports Pistol

Simranpreet Kaur Brar emerged as a strong contender by topping the qualification round with a score of 586 in the women’s 25-metre sports pistol event. However, despite her impressive performance, Brar finished fifth in the final. Rhythm Sangwan also showcased her skills with a score of 582 but narrowly missed the final by one point. Meanwhile, Manu Bhaker, an Olympic quota winner, secured the 14th place with a score of 580.

Munek Battula Leads in Men’s Skeet

In the men’s skeet event, Munek Battula demonstrated his prowess by shooting an outstanding score of 74 out of 75, placing him among the leaders. Despite tough competition, Battula’s performance stood out, positioning him as a strong contender in the tournament. However, Anant Jeet Singh Naruka, an Asian Games silver medallist and Olympic quota winner, faced challenges and finished in the 53rd spot with a score of 67.

Women’s Skeet: Raiza Dhillon, Areeba Khan, and Ganemat Sekhon’s Performance

Raiza Dhillon, Areeba Khan, and Ganemat Sekhon showcased their skills in the women’s skeet event, securing positions in the 17th to 20th spots with scores of 68, 67, and 67 respectively. Their performances set the stage for further competition as they aim for success in the upcoming rounds.
