Still Using UTS? Indian Railways Has Big News for You

Indian Railways is making a major digital shift. From March 1, 2026, the popular UTS mobile app will be discontinued, and passengers will be required to switch to the RailOne super app for ticket booking. Announced in February 2026, the move aims to simplify railway services and promote digital ticketing. RailOne, launched last year, combines multiple railway services on one platform and comes with booking incentives, marking a new phase in India’s rail digital transformation.

Indian Railways Discontinued UTS App

  • The UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System) app, launched on December 27, 2014, allowed passengers to book unreserved tickets, season tickets and platform tickets.
  • According to the Railway Board, its services will stop from March 1, 2026.
  • Officials clarified that all UTS features are now available on RailOne, making the older app redundant.
  • Passengers do not need to create new accounts, as existing UTS and RailConnect credentials will work seamlessly on the new platform.

RailOne Super App: One App for All Railway Needs

  • RailOne has been designed as a one-stop digital solution for railway passengers.
  • Through a single interface, users can book reserved tickets, unreserved tickets and platform tickets.
  • The app also integrates key services like IRCTC Rail Connect, NTES (live train status), Rail Madad, and Food on Track.
  • This consolidation reduces the need for multiple railway apps and improves convenience, especially for frequent travellers and daily commuters.

Digital Push: Various Incentives

  • To encourage adoption, Indian Railways has been promoting RailOne since January 2026.
  • Passengers booking unreserved tickets via RailOne using digital payment modes such as UPI, debit cards, credit cards and net banking receive a 3% discount.
  • This scheme is valid from 14 January 2026 to 14 July 2026. For bookings made through R-wallet, the existing 3% cashback bonus continues unchanged, strengthening the push for cashless travel.

Key Features of the RailOne App

  • RailOne offers several passenger-friendly features.
  • Users can check live train running status, delays, arrival and departure timings, real-time coach position, and platform details.
  • The app allows passengers to track PNR status, manage cancellations, and monitor refunds.
  • It also enables ordering food to seats from IRCTC-approved vendors and lodging complaints or feedback through Rail Madad, making it a comprehensive travel companion.

Why Indian Railways Is Moving to a Single Super App

  • The shift reflects Indian Railways broader goal of simplifying digital services, reducing maintenance of multiple apps, and improving user experience
  • . A unified platform like RailOne helps streamline data, improve service delivery, and promote digital payments.
  • It also aligns with India’s larger push towards Digital India and efficient public service delivery.
