Supreme Court Collegium Recommends Transfer Of 3 High Court Judges

The Supreme Court collegium, led by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, has recommended the transfer of three high court judges upon their respective requests. The decisions were made in accordance with the interests of better administration of justice and personal reasons cited by the judges.

Recommendation 1: Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya

  • Request: Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya of the Calcutta High Court has sought a transfer to another high court due to personal reasons, as conveyed in a communication dated February 12, 2024.
  • Resolution: The collegium has acceded to Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya’s request and recommended her transfer to the High Court for the State of Telangana.

Recommendation 2: Justice Anu Sivaraman

  • Request: Justice Anu Sivaraman has requested a transfer out of the State of Kerala.
  • Resolution: The collegium has accepted Justice Anu Sivaraman’s request and recommended her transfer to the Karnataka High Court.

Recommendation 3: Justice Sujoy Paul

  • Request: Justice Sujoy Paul has sought a transfer because his son practices in the High Court of Madhya Pradesh.
  • Resolution: The collegium has resolved to recommend Justice Sujoy Paul’s transfer to the High Court for the State of Telangana, considering the better administration of justice.
