Tata–Lockheed Martin to Build New MRO Facility for C-130J Super Hercules in India

In a major boost to India’s defence infrastructure, Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) and Lockheed Martin have commenced construction of a state-of-the-art Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility for the C-130J Super Hercules aircraft. (TLMAL), has been manufacturing components such as the empennage (tail assembly) for the global C-130J fleet. In 2025, TLMAL celebrated the delivery of its 250th C-130J tail assembly, underlining the scale of Indian contribution to the global supply chain.

The decision to expand this partnership into the MRO segment comes at a time when Lockheed Martin is pitching the C-130J for a large Indian Air Force tender to procure 80 medium transport aircraft.
