Tata to Become India’s First iPhone Manufacturer as Wistron Approves Factory Sale

The Tata Group has taken a significant step towards manufacturing and assembling Apple iPhones in India for both domestic and international markets. Tata Group’s iPhone Manufacturing Ambitions

The Tata Group has set an ambitious timeline to commence iPhone production within just two and a half years. This endeavor is expected to bolster India’s position as a prominent hub for smartphone manufacturing and exports.

Wistron’s Approval for Sale

Wistron, a significant player in the global electronics manufacturing sector, has granted approval for the sale of its operations in India to the Tata Group. This approval is a pivotal step in the process of Tata Group’s entry into iPhone manufacturing.

Union Minister Chandrasekhar shared this momentous announcement on the social media platform X, emphasizing the Tata Group’s accomplishment and acknowledging the role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme in transforming India into a trusted hub for smartphone manufacturing and exports.

Government Support for Electronics Manufacturing

Chandrasekhar underscored the support of the Indian government, particularly the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), in nurturing the growth of Indian electronics companies with global potential. The government’s backing is instrumental in encouraging global electronic brands to choose India as their preferred destination for manufacturing and tapping into the country’s abundant talent pool.
