Devmali is located in the Beawar district of Rajasthan. The village is mainly home to the Gurjar community, who follow their customs and traditions with great devotion. They worship their clan deity, Devnarayan, and celebrate festivals with enthusiasm.

One of the most interesting facts about Devmali is that all houses are built in medieval style. Despite modern development, the villagers prefer mud and stone houses instead of concrete buildings. These houses are:

  • Cool in summer and warm in winter, making them perfect for Rajasthan’s climate.
  • Strong and long-lasting, requiring less maintenance.
  • Connected to the village’s culture and history.

Wealthy Villagers with Simple Lifestyles

Many people from Devmali have good incomes and businesses. Some have relatives working abroad, while others are involved in trade and farming. Even though they are financially well-off, they choose to live in simple homes rather than luxurious buildings.

In September 2024, Devmali was awarded the title of “Best Tourist Village in India.” This recognition highlights the village’s rich heritage, traditional architecture and cultural values. Tourists visit Devmali to experience its unique lifestyle, traditional houses and warm hospitality.
