Thota Tharani Conferred France’s Prestigious Chevalier Award

Veteran art director Thota Tharani, a celebrated name in Indian cinema and visual design, has been conferred with the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters)—a prestigious French civilian award. The honour was formally presented on November 13, 2025, at Alliance Française, Chennai, by the French Ambassador to India, coinciding with the inauguration of Tharani’s art exhibition. This recognition places him alongside an elite group of Indian cultural icons such as Kamal Haasan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sivaji Ganesan, and Kalki Koechlin, who have previously received the French honour for their contributions to arts and literature.
