Three High Court Chief Justices Appointed as Supreme Court Judges
The President of India appointed three serving Chief Justices of High Courts as Judges of the Supreme Court of India on 5 October 2026. The appointments were announced by the Ministry of Law and Justice.

Judges of the Supreme Court are appointed by the President of India under Article 124(2) of the Constitution of India. Appointments to the Supreme Court and High Courts are governed by Articles 124, 217 and 224 and the prescribed Memorandum of Procedure.
