Germany ranks second in salt exports, with about 1.7 million tonnes in 2025. The country has strong mining industries and a good transport network. German salt is mainly used for industrial purposes, road de-icing and in the chemical sector across Europe and beyond.

India

India is the third-largest salt exporter in the world in 2025, also exporting nearly 1.7 million tonnes. The salt is mostly produced in coastal states like Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. India exports salt to many countries, especially in Asia and Africa, due to its affordable pricing and large supply.

Canada

Canada is in fourth place, exporting about 1.6 million tonnes of salt in 2025. Most of Canada’s salt comes from large underground mines. It is mainly used in winter for road safety and also in industries. Canada exports salt mostly to the United States and other nearby countries.
