Top 7 Cities With the Most Billionaires in the Year 2026
According to the Hurun Global Rich List 2026, the number of the billionaires worldwide has reached to a record high and it reflecting the strong growth in technology, finance, manufacturing, and entrepreneurship.
While the New York continues continues to hold its first position as the world’s billionaire capital, several Chinese cities are gaining ground at the impressive pace such as Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Beijing now dominates the global rankings.
Meanwhile, Mumbai remains as the India’s richest city despite it loosing the its status of Asia’s top billionaire hub.
The Hurun Global Rich List 2026 reported the total of 4,020 billionaires worldwide and it is the highest number ever recorded.
The billionaire population increased by 578 individuals as compared to the previous year and it means that nearly two new billionaires were created every day on average.
This rankings are based on to the wealth calculations as of January 15, 2026 and it were published by the Hurun Research Institute in the month of March 2026.
This growth reflects the continued expansion of the global markets, innovation-driven industries and rising the entrepreneurial success across multiple regions.

For the third consecutive year New York City has tops the list with the 146 billionaires.
The city has added 17 new billionaires during the year and it strengthened the its position as the world’s premier financial hub.
It is home to the Wall Street, major investment banks, hedge funds, private equity firm, and real estate giants and New York continues to attract and generate the enormous wealth.
Its diversified economy and deep financial infrastructure also makes it as one of the most influential wealth centers on the planet.
One of the biggest stories in the 2026 rankings is the rise of the Shenzhen.
The Chinese technological powerhouse climbed to second place worldwide with 132 billionaires and it overtaken the Shanghai and becoming the Asia’s leading billionaire city.
Shenzhen added total 47 billionaires during this year and it showcases the explosive growth of the China’s technology, electronics and innovation sectors.
It is often called as the China’s Silicon Valley, Shenzhen has become as the major center for startups, manufacturing, artificial intelligence and consumer technology.
Shanghai has secured third place with the 120 billionaires.
As the China’s financial and commercial capital, Shanghai remains as the critical center for the banking, trade, logistics, and global business.
Although it has slipped one position in the rankings and this city continues to plays the major role in wealth creation.
Meanwhile, Chinese capital Beijing ranked fourth with the 107 billionaires. As China’s political and corporate headquarters hub, this city hosts the numerous large corporations and influential business leaders.
Together, Shenzhen, Shanghai and Beijing account for the astonishing 359 billionaires numbers.
London has retained the its status as yhe Europe’s leading billionaire city with 102 billionaires.
The city’s wealth is mainly driven by the financial services, real estate, investment management, retail and international business.
Despite the global economic uncertainties, London continues to attract the multiple entrepreneurs, investors and high-net-worth individuals from around the world.
Its position as the global financial center remains largely unmatched across the Europe.
Mumbai continues to be the India’s billionaire capital with total 95 billionaires.
This city remains as the center of India’s financial sector, housing major banks, stock exchanges, conglomerates and several business headquarters.
India’s billionaire population also grew significantly in the year 2026 and it helped the country maintain the its position as among the world’s leading wealth creators.
However, Mumbai lost the its title as Asia’s city with the most billionaires, this distinction is now held by Shenzhen.

Hong Kong has also secured seventh place with 88 billionaires.
