UIDAI Launches Free Email Update Service in Aadhaar App: Everything You Need to Know

The Unique Identification Authority of India has introduced a digital service that makes it easy to update Aadhaar details. People can now., update their email ID in Aadhaar directly through the Aadhaar App. This means they do not have to visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra. From July 1 2026 residents can use the app to add or update their email ID.

UIDAI Introduces Free Email Update in Aadhaar App

UIDAI has enabled Aadhaar holders to conveniently add or update their email addresses by using the official Aadhaar App on their smartphones. Earlier, users had to visit an Aadhaar update or enrolment centre to make changes.

These new features allow residents to complete their process digitally from anywhere, which will save the time and effort.

This services is available free of charge from 1st of July, 2026, for six months and will encourage users to keep their Aadhaar information updated.

Massive Response Within Just Two Days

The newly introduced email update service has already received an enthusiastic response from Aadhaar users across the country.

According to UIDAI, more than 2.5 lakh residents already updated their email addresses within the first two days after the feature available on App.

This shows that people like self-service platforms and they trust government services.

Aadhaar App Expands Digital Services

The Aadhaar App has evolved into the comprehensive platform that enables users to manage the several Aadhaar-related services directly from their smartphones.

  • Other eligible Aadhaar services

These digital services also reduce the need for physical visits to Aadhaar centres and making the process faster, more accessible, and convenient for the millions of residents.

Millions of Users Are Using the Aadhaar App

The Aadhaar App has also witnessed significant adoption since its rollout nationwide.

According to UIDAI,

  • More than 40 lakh users have updated their mobile numbers using the Aadhaar App.
  • Around 10 lakh residents have successfully updated their addresses through the application.
  • Over 2.5 lakh email updates were already completed within just two days of launching the new service.

These figures showcases the growing role of digital platforms in delivering citizen-centric government services efficiently.

How to Update Your Email ID in Aadhaar

If you want to update your email ID in Aadhaar you can follow these steps,

  • Download or Update the official Aadhaar App
  • Log in using the required authentication process
  • Select the Email Update option
  • Modify your email address
  • Complete the verification process. Submit the request

The service is free, for six months starting from July 1 2026. You can use the Aadhaar App to update your email ID.
