Union Government Receipts Reach ₹13.06 Lakh Crore by July 2026

The Monthly Accounts of the Union Government till July 2026 have been consolidated and published to give a preliminary idea about the finances of the government in the first four months of FY 2026-27. As per the latest data, Government of India collected ₹13,06,709 crore, which is 35.8% of the corresponding Budget Estimate (BE) for total receipts. For the same period, government expenditure was ₹17,61,853 crore, that is, 32.9% of the corresponding FY27 Budget Estimate. The numbers are inclusive of tax and non-tax revenue, non-debt capital receipts and state devolution and expenditures.

Centre Receives ₹13.06 lakh Crore as Government Receipts

The Centre received ₹13,06,709 crore till July 2026. This is 35.8% of the corresponding Budget Estimate for total receipts in 2026-27.

The receipts included,

  • Tax Revenue (Net to Centre): ₹8,44,560 crore
  • Non-Tax Revenue: ₹4,23,013 crore
  • Non-Debt Capital Receipts: ₹39,136 crore

Tax Revenue thus remained the largest component of the receipts of the Centre.

₹3.72 Lakh Crore Released to States

Devolution of taxes is one of the essential features of the financial system of the Central Government.

During the period of April-July 2026, the Centre has released ₹3,72,354 crore as devolution of taxes to the states.

This is ₹56,190 crore less compared to the amount released to the states in the corresponding period in the previous year.

Tax devolution plays an important role in Centre-State finances and serves as a source of funds for states to support development expenditure.

Expenditure of the Government Stood at ₹17.61 Lakh Crore

Total expenditure of the Government stood at ₹17,61,853 crore till July 2026. It is 32.9% of the corresponding Budget Estimate of 2026-27.

This was distributed in two heads as follows,

  • Revenue expenditure: ₹13,11,218 crore
  • Capital expenditure: ₹4,50,635 crore

The above figures bring out the magnitude of the expenditure of the Government during the initial months of the financial year.

Interest and Subsidies

In the case of total revenue expenditure, ₹4,26,566 crore was utilized for interest payments. It is an important part of the government’s revenue expenditure and indicates that how much money is being spent in the service of national debt.

There was another important part of the total revenue expenditure, which was subsidies. ₹1,53,513 crore was used by the Centre on subsidies till July 2026.
