Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, marked a significant step by laying the foundation stone for the National Skill Training Institutes (NSTI) Plus. The initiative aims to enhance the skills of Odisha’s youth through demand-driven and high-quality vocational education.
Under the Directorate General of Training (DGT), NSTI Plus will train 500 instructors in Phase-1 through the Craftsmen Instructor Training Scheme (CITS). Additionally, it plans to incorporate another 500 instructors for upskilling and reskilling, aligning with the vision of making India a global skilling destination.
The event witnessed the presence of notable figures including Shri Pritiranjan Gharai, Shri Muzibulla Khan, and Shri T G Sitharam. The ceremony highlighted the commitment of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) to introduce innovative initiatives.
Shri Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized that NSTI would evolve into a modern gurukul, equipping candidates and trainers with industry-ready skills. He expressed confidence in the integrated campus empowering the youth with cutting-edge skills, fostering entrepreneurship, and aligning with the vision of a developed India by 2047.
Constructed on a 7.8-acre campus in Jatni, Bhubaneswar, NSTI Plus aims to accommodate institutions like NIESBUD, NSDC, and SIIC. It aspires to become a hub for diverse skill development activities and an incubation center for emerging start-ups.
NSTI Plus is envisioned as a nucleus for emerging start-ups, an incubation center, and a versatile hub for cultivating various skills. It emphasizes the pivotal role educators play in molding the future of youth, offering opportunities for soft skills development and hands-on training on new technologies.
With 524 existing ITIs in the region, NSTI Plus represents a significant advancement in the vocational training framework, making it more accessible and inclusive. It aligns with the collaborative efforts to develop an integrated 4.0 campus for entrepreneurs with modern new-age skills.
NSTIs will serve as capacity-building centers for educators, offering meticulously designed courses in collaboration with industries to meet the needs of the local community. The strategic location surrounded by premier institutions enhances student engagement with vocational training.
NSTI Plus, through specialized training programs, unlocks the potential of youth across various domains. Upon completion of training, certificates from IGNOU, NIOS, and NIESBUD will be provided to facilitate vertical and horizontal mobility for the candidates.
