The UP Mahila Samarthya Yojana 2026 which is a flagship women empowerment initiative of the state government of Uttar Pradesh, it aimed at to strengthen rural women through skill development, self-employment and entrepreneurship. It is implemented by the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission (UPSRLM) under the Women Welfare Department. This scheme mainly focuses on to empowering women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) by providing the free skill training, financial support, and market linkages.

About UP Mahila Samarthya Yojana

UP Mahila Samarthya Yojana is a women-centric welfare scheme which is designed to strengthen the Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in the rural Uttar Pradesh.

This scheme provides women with the vocational training, entrepreneurial guidance, and financial assistance to encourage the self-employment and income generation.

Women who are enrolled under registered SHGs receive training in the eight different skill sectors, along with the assistance for establishing small businesses.

This scheme also promotes the markets through Cluster Level Enterprises (CLEs) and enables women to sell their products and expand their businesses.

Also the special priority is given to those women who are belonging to Aspirational Districts, Below Poverty Line (BPL) families, Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and women with disabilities.

The primary objective of this scheme is to economically empower rural women by promoting entrepreneurship and self-reliance through the Self-Help Groups.

The scheme aims to,

  • Provide free skill development training in the multiple employment-oriented sectors.
  • Promote women-led enterprises and sustainable livelihoods.
  • Improve market access for products manufactured by SHGs.

Benefits of UP Mahila Samarthya Yojana

Women and Self-Help Groups which are registered under UPSRLM can avail the several benefits under the scheme, including the,

  • Free skill training in eight different employment-oriented sectors.
  • Providing fund assistance of ₹15,000 for each eligible SHG.
  • Enterprise development support for the starting or expanding businesses.
  • Market linkage assistance through Cluster Level Enterprises (CLEs).
  • Capacity-building program and entrepreneurship guidance will be provided.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have to fulfill the following eligibility conditions to benefit from the scheme,

  • Must be a permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh.
  • Applicant should be a rural woman.
  • Must be between 18 and 60 years of age.
  • Should be a member of any registered Self-Help Group (SHG) under UPSRLM.
  • The SHG should have completed at least three months of the regular savings and meetings.
  • Preference is given to those women who are from BPL families, SC/ST communities, women with disabilities, and Aspirational Districts.
