Uttar Pradesh Becomes India’s Largest Milk-Producing State, Check Production Details
Milk is an important part of India’s agricultural and dairy economy. India is the world’s largest milk-producing country, and among Indian states, Uttar Pradesh ranks first in milk production.
According to the Basic Animal Husbandry Statistics (BAHS) 2025, Uttar Pradesh contributed 15.66% of India’s total milk production in 2024–25, followed by Rajasthan with 14.82%.

In 2024–25, Uttar Pradesh accounted for 15.66% of the country’s total milk production. Rajasthan stood second with a share of 14.82%, while Madhya Pradesh ranked third with 9.12%.
Uttar Pradesh produced approximately 19.01 million tonnes of milk in 2024–25, contributing 15.66% to India’s overall milk production.
The state has also recorded substantial growth in milk production over the years. Its milk production increased from around 27.7 million tonnes in 2016–17 to approximately 38.8 million tonnes in 2024–25.
