Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman: NSA Ajit Doval and late CDS Gen Rawat to receive award

Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman: The Uttarakhand government announced that this year’s Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman would be given to National Securtiy Advisor (NSA), Ajit Doval, poet Prasoon Joshi, and three other individuals for their notable achievements. On November 9, the recipients will be honoured with the Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman.

  • Every year, the government of Uttarakhand honours individuals with the Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman in recognition of their accomplishments in their various disciplines.
  • Prasoon Joshi serves as the Central Board of Film Certification’s chairperson.

  • Films like Fanna, Bhag Milkha Bhag, Rang De Basanti, Taare Zameen Par, Black, and Delhi-6 among others have included writing by Prasoon Joshi.
  • He has penned lyrics for other national initiatives, like the Dettol Swach Abhiyan, Tata Jagriti Anthem, Poshan Anthem, etc.
  • He has written plays, songs, dialogue, and other things.
  • One of the two highest state-level civilian honours, it was established in 2021. Uttarakhand Ratna is an additional one.
  • Former chief minister ND Tiwari, environmentalist Anil Prakash Joshi, writer Ruskin Bond, mountaineer Bachendri Pal, and folk singer Narendra Singh Negi all received the prize in its inaugural year.

  • Ajit Doval will get the prize, along with former Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Bipin Rawat, late poet and author Girish Chandra Tiwari, and late journalist Viren Dangwal.
  • Journalist and poet Viren Dangwal, who passed away, will receive the honour posthumously. Numerous Hindi poetry by the late Girish Chandra Tiwari have received praise from literary critics.

  • Ajit Doval is a former government employee from the IPS cadre. He was born on January 20, 1945.
  • He is India’s fifth NSA for the year 2014. He has a track record of managing India’s security concerns at the highest level. In 2004–2005, he was the Intelligence Bureau’s Director.
  • He oversaw IB’s operations wing for ten years prior to then.

Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman: Former CDS General Bipin Rawat

Former CDS General Bipin Rawat died in an aviation disaster that occurred in December claiming the lives of 12 additional people in addition to former CDS General Bipin Rawat and his wife.
