In London, The Uttarakhand government made a significant stride in boosting its tourism and infrastructure sector by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Poma Group, a renowned French ropeway construction company . The MoU, valued at a substantial Rs 2,000 crore, was officially inked by Vinay Shankar Pandey, the Secretary of Industries on behalf of the Uttarakhand government.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who played a pivotal role in facilitating this groundbreaking agreement, expressed his enthusiasm for the project. He emphasized the immense potential for eco-friendly tourism investment in Uttarakhand, considering the state’s unique geographical conditions. This landmark investment aims to harness the state’s natural beauty and promote responsible tourism.
Poma Group, a global leader in ropeway construction, has made significant contributions to the development of Uttarakhand’s transportation infrastructure. Notably, the group has previously worked on the Auli ropeway project in Chamoli district, enhancing connectivity and accessibility to one of Uttarakhand’s premier tourist destinations. Currently, Poma Group is providing crucial technical support for ongoing ropeway projects in Dehradun-Mussoorie and Yamunotri.
Chief Minister Dhami’s vision for Uttarakhand encompasses sustainable development that harmonizes with the state’s pristine environment. He emphasized the need for investment options that strike a balance between economic progress and environmental conservation. The introduction of ropeways is seen as a win-win solution: it promises to enhance the convenience and experience of tourists while reducing the environmental impact of traditional transportation methods. Moreover, it is expected to create new livelihood opportunities for local residents.
During his visit to London, Chief Minister Dhami seized the opportunity to meet with prominent industrial houses and investors. He extended an invitation to these potential partners, urging them to participate in the forthcoming Global Investor Summit scheduled for December in Uttarakhand. The summit promises to showcase the state’s investment potential across various sectors, including tourism, infrastructure, and renewable energy.
